As an English interpreter I ensure that the full message gets across to the listener, both verbal as well as non-verbal communication. In doing so, I do not only pay attention to the correct words but also for example to the intonation, to convey the same message. Furthermore I can help you with the translation of documents.
Interpreter
Interpreting usually takes place on location although in some situations interpreting can also be done digitally or possibly by telephone. Not all situations are suitable for digital or telephone interpreting and I would be happy to discuss this with you. I have experience with interpreting in all kinds of situations. Below you will find some example situations in which I can help you as an English interpreter:
Business services:
• Interpreting events for you foreign guests;
• Staff meetings / business meetings;
• Guiding foreign visits (guided tours / trade delegations);
• Police & Justice;
• Civil-law notary for the execution of deeds;
• Advocacy.
Private services:
• Notary: The execution of your mortgage and / or deed of purchase, cohabitation contract;
• Marriage ceremony;
• Estate agents visit.
Sworn interpreter
I am registered as an English interpreter in the RBTV (28574) and have been sworn in by the court in The Hague. This means that I have taken an oath to adhere to the code of conduct of the WBTV. In short this means the following:
• I am conscientious and impartial;
• I behave as may be expected of a good interpreter;
• I keep confidential information secret;
• I adhere to the code of conduct for interpreters;
• I follow continuing education.
Interpreter techniques
Three interpretation techniques can be distinguished: simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting and conversation interpreting. Depending on your request, I can indicate which interpreting technique will be suited to your situation.
Simultaneous interpreting: Simultaneous interpreting means that I interpreter while the speaker is speaking, so that it can be interpreted simultaneously for the audience.
Consecutive interpreting: Consecutive interpreting means that the speaker tells his or her story and after the story they give me the opportunity to interpret their story to the audience. I make use of notation techniques for this.
Conversation interpreting: Conversation interpreting is used as a link in a conversation between two or more parties who do not speak the same language. As an interpreter I interpret what is said to both language sides so that the parties can understand each other.
Costs
The costs of an interpreting assignment depends on the many variables of the assignment (duration, technique and form). I will be happy to send you a realistic and tailor-made offer for your specific assignment.
Translating
You can also contact me for the translation of documents. Again, the costs depend on a number of factors (size of the document, deadline date) and I will be happy to make a tailor-made offer for you. Do bear in, mind I am not a sworn translator.
